Head of Data | Up to £115k | London / Hybrid

The Role:

The data infrastructure is already in place. The opportunity now is to turn data into a genuinely strategic capability across the business, shaping the data strategy, developing the existing team, improving governance and helping leadership make better decisions through data.

  • You’ll report directly to the CEO and sit across both the technical and strategic sides of the function.
  • The core data infrastructure is already built across technologies including BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Airbyte and Lightdash.
  • The focus is now on making that infrastructure work harder for the business — improving how data is governed, accessed and used, while defining what the next stage of the function should look like.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you’ll be doing

  • Define and own the company’s data strategy, roadmap and priorities
  • Work hands-on across data engineering, analytics engineering, modelling and analysis
  • Develop and mentor a small existing data team, raising the technical and strategic bar
  • Improve data quality, governance, ownership and accessibility
  • Partner with teams across the business to understand where data can have the biggest impact
  • Help shape the longer-term data, AI and ML strategy
  • Explore how AI/LLMs can improve the productivity and capabilities of the data function
  • Build the case for future investment and team growth as the business scales

Requirements:

  • You’ll ideally have experience of taking a relatively small data team or function through a period of growth or increased maturity.
  • You’ll need to be comfortable moving between technical detail and higher-level strategy - this isn't a role for someone who has been purely people-management focused for the last few years.
  • Strong communication is also important. You’ll be working closely with senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders, so the ability to turn complex data concepts into clear business decisions is key.
