Head of Data Platforms | London (Hybrid, 1 to 2 days)
A high growth consumer ecommerce brand is looking for a Head of Data Platforms to join their Data function. This is a senior leadership role reporting into the Director of Data & AI, with three direct reports.
You'll take ownership of the Data Platform organisation during a period of continued growth and evolution. This is a blend of engineering leadership and operational management: you'll oversee strategic delivery, vendor relationships, planning and governance, while keeping the platform running reliably at scale.
What you'll be doing
Delivery & Programme Leadership
- Own delivery of the Data Platform portfolio, keeping programmes aligned to business priorities
- Drive quarterly planning, governance and operational oversight
- Coordinate roadmap execution across multiple teams
- Report delivery status to senior stakeholders

Vendor & Commercial Management
- Own relationships with strategic Data Platform technology partners
- Manage supplier governance and contract lifecycle oversight
- Partner with Procurement and Finance on supplier performance and technology investment
Operational Excellence
- Ensure reliability and scalability of the Data Platform
- Own Technology Risk
- Support operational readiness for high demand trading periods
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices
Engineering & Strategy Leadership
- Lead and develop multiple engineering teams
- Coach Engineering Managers and support the growth of high performing teams
- Translate organisational strategy into delivery priorities and roadmaps
- Support hiring, succession planning and organisational design

What you'll bring
- Significant experience leading multiple data and engineering teams in a modern tech organisation
- Experience leading complex, cross functional programmes
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Experience managing technology vendors and commercial governance
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and leading through change
- Technical background in Data Platforms, Data Engineering or Platform Engineering
Nice to have
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt and AWS
- Experience leading Data Platform or Platform Engineering functions
- Background in high growth technology businesses
- Exposure to AI or Machine Learning platforms
