We Are BBC Studios
A globally renowned media company borne of the BBC. We make and distribute the world’s most sought-after TV, audio, and digital content.
Our ambition is to be the home of the most powerful, entertaining, and inspiring stories for people all around the world.
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a commercially minded and technically credible Head of Data Solutions to lead the development and delivery of data and analytics capabilities for BBC Studios Ad Sales globally.
In this senior leadership role, you will define the BI data roadmap, lead a team of analysts, and drive best practices across data modelling, governance, and quality. You will play a key role in the transition to a centralised Snowflake data platform, ensuring reliable, accessible data that supports reporting, forecasting, and business performance insights.
This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for technical direction, team development, delivery excellence, and senior stakeholder engagement, while remaining actively involved in delivering high-impact data solutions.
Why Join the Team
The Strategy & Business Intelligence team supports BBC Studios Ad Sales by driving commercial growth, business performance, and future capability through strategic insight, trusted data, connected commercial platforms, and high-quality business intelligence.
This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for setting technical direction, building team capability, ensuring delivery excellence, and managing senior stakeholder relationships. The successful candidate will not only lead and develop the team but will also be expected to make a significant personal contribution to the design, development, and delivery of data, analytics, and BI solutions. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, they will help shape strategy while remaining actively involved in execution.
Your Key Responsibilities and Impact
- Own and evolve the BI Data Solutions strategy and roadmap for BBC Studios Ad Sales, prioritising data products, analytical capabilities, and platform improvements according to commercial value, user needs, and strategic objectives.
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable BI data solutions across the commercial lifecycle, including trusted data models, reusable datasets, reporting foundations, and self-service analytical capabilities.
- Bring the team onto a centralized Snowflake data lake, starting from scratch, and ensuring best practices for data stewardship are implemented (data modelling, quality, and governance, for example).
- Improve the consistency, accessibility, and trustworthiness of commercial performance information, reducing duplicated logic and manual reporting while enabling better forecasting and decision-making.
- Provide technical and people leadership for the BI Data Solutions team, setting clear standards for solution design, delivery, documentation, testing, data quality, and ongoing support.
- Partner with Sales, Revenue Performance, Product, and Technology leaders to translate commercial questions and operational needs into robust data and analytics solutions.
- Act as the senior link between Ad Sales and central data platform teams, ensuring that the Snowflake data lake, ingestion patterns, and governance controls support the division’s current and future BI needs. Collaborating with engineers, analysts, and technical teams across the BBC.
- Drive adoption, performance, and continuous improvement of BI data products, champion self-service BI capabilities, and influence investment decisions across tooling, platforms, and delivery partners.
- Build and develop a high-performing team with the analytical, data modelling, and engineering skills needed to support evolving business needs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
