Head of Data
Manchester | Hybrid – 3 days per week on-site
We’re working with a growing, well-backed financial services business in Manchester that is looking to appoint a Head of Data to lead its data function and help shape the next stage of its growth.
This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the board, with responsibility for data strategy, governance, insight, and the continued development of the company’s data platform.
The successful candidate will lead the existing function of data engineers and analysts while working closely with senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Leading the overall data strategy and roadmap
- Strengthening data governance, quality, and controls
- Developing the organisation’s reporting, analytics, and insight capability
- Overseeing the continued development of the data platform and warehouse
- Working with senior stakeholders to improve data-led decision making
- Leading, developing, and setting direction for the existing data team
- Ensuring the data function is scalable and supports future business growth

You’ll also be responsible for developing the data team, setting priorities, improving standards, and ensuring the function can support the next stage of business growth.
We’re particularly interested in candidates with:
- Senior data leadership experience within financial services or another regulated environment
- Strong exposure to credit risk / consumer credit
- Experience working directly with boards, CFOs, and senior leadership teams
- Strong leadership and people-development experience
- Good understanding of data governance, data quality, and regulatory requirements
- Experience of modern data platforms and data warehouse programmes
- Strong Power BI / analytics / insight capability
- A commercial mindset and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
