Head of Delivery (Software application development / UK Public Sector)

Location: Guildford (Permanent Hybrid/travel to client and office sites as required)

Overview

We are seeking a Head of Delivery/Projects to lead, drive and continuously improve delivery across our UK Public Sector clients. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining portfolio oversight with direct Delivery Manager responsibility on key engagements. You’ll be accountable for delivering high-quality outcomes while embedding Agile best practices aligned to GDS standards and driving continuous improvement across delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own delivery across all Agile software & data projects
  • Act as Delivery Manager on complex/high-risk programmes
  • Ensure delivery across scope, budget, timelines, and quality
  • Act as a senior escalation point for risks, issues, and stakeholders
  • Lead a team of Delivery Managers and multidisciplinary resource
  • Embed consistent Agile ways of working
  • Drive process and delivery maturity, governance, and reporting (RAID, financials, capacity)
  • Build strong relationships with public sector clients
  • Support commercials, forecasting, and bids/tenders

Mandatory Requirements

  • Proven leadership in Professional Services / Consultancy delivery
  • Delivery of complex software/data programmes (up to £3m)
  • Strong Agile delivery expertise
  • Hands-on experience as a Delivery or Project Manager
  • Experience managing teams and senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial and financial management
  • SC Clearance (or eligibility)
