Head of Delivery

We are looking for a Head of Delivery to lead ADSP’s technical delivery team of data scientists, software engineers, business analysts, and AI consultants, focusing on public sector projects including defence. You will drive the delivery strategy through recruitment, development, and team management, ensuring successful project delivery by monitoring progress, managing risks, and promoting innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical delivery team
  • Develop and execute the delivery strategy for ADSP
  • Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing risks
  • Manage and mentor project delivery teams and members
  • Encourage and facilitate innovation and continuous improvement
  • Develop strategic relationships with clients and partners to create business opportunities
  • Write proposals for exciting new AI delivery opportunities
  • Collaborate with partners to align technical strategies and business goals
  • Manage budgets and resources
  • Develop corporate process and quality principles
  • Accountable for directing the business/function, taking significant decisions and driving a performance culture

Key Requirements

  • Degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics or data science.
  • Experience of successfully leading complex AI projects within the public sector, including project management and commercial activities.
  • Experience of mentoring and managing technical teams.
  • Experience of leading the design, development, testing, and deployment of AI solutions.
  • Experience of leading code reviews in Python and SQL through Git, and applied other best practices to technical projects.
  • Experience of leading technical bid activities and proposal writing within the public sector.
  • Experience of writing technical policy, standards and procedures, especially for data and AI governance.
  • Experience successfully setting and delivering the strategic and commercial direction of a technical delivery team.
  • Experience of applying knowledge of cloud computing, including architecting and deploying solutions, and selecting appropriate tools and design patterns.
  • Exposure to advanced machine learning techniques (e.g. reinforcement learning, deep learning).
  • Experience owning the day-to-day resource allocation of a large team of technical resources across a range of projects.
  • Experience recruiting and developing a diverse technical delivery team.
  • Experience working with external clients and partners within the public sector for successful technical delivery and to build strong long-term relationships
  • Knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts and principles.
  • Expertise in Python and SQL, both for development and to review code.
  • Strong working knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Understanding of how to use Git, and other tools such as Docker, as part of the development process.
  • A holistic understanding of the software development process, from design through to deployment.
  • Knowledge of the most state-of-the-art AI developments and trends.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business and project commercials and risks.
  • Able to navigate complex stakeholder environments, including communicating with and influencing senior stakeholders and executives
