I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Success in the role will be determined by two main deliverables:

  • A measurable IBD outcome - at least one squad launched, MVP shipped, and target KPIs met.
  • A codified, replicable playbook - squad design, phase gates, governance, and talent model that will be generalised and rolled out across ERGO and Munich Re Entities from Year 2 onwards.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & investment - Set the IT roadmap; prioritise funding and FTE across the four capability pillars (AI & Data, Engineering & Platform, Insurance Expertise, Operations & Enablement).
  • Operating model - Stand up product-led squads end-to-end across the three phases (Planning, Build & Launch MVP, Iterate & Optimise) and enforce consistent ways of working.
  • Talent & capability - Recruit and develop squad leads, product managers, AI engineers, platform leads, software engineers, and designers; build a bench that scales with squad demand.
  • Delivery & outcomes - Drive measurable outcomes (sales, channel enablement, loss ratio, cycle time, platform adoption) and hold squads accountable to them.
  • Stakeholder leadership - Partner with Embedded Business Product Owners across ERGO Germany, ERGO Int'l, Munich Re Entities, GSI, and ERGO NEXT; align with tower leads on shared services.
  • Governance & reporting - Report progress, risks, and spend to ERGO Next CTO & CEO, the Group

If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with everything outlined, or you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the candidate we are looking for!
