Head of Design - Eastern South Team

Location: Stansted, Essex

Hours: Full Time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

About the Role

As a Head of Design, you'll be leading the design function across the Eastern South Portfolio, managing a team of circa 30 talented professionals delivering diverse projects across healthcare, justice, education, defence, and commercial sectors. With project values ranging from £10m to £160m, this is an opportunity to make a real impact while developing and empowering your team to achieve the highest standards.

Responsibilities

As a Head of Design, you'll be working within the Construction Team, supporting them in delivering excellence across all design management aspects. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Taking ownership of the design function, ensuring the delivery of all aspects of Design Management within the Eastern South Portfolio
  • Direct line management and indirect responsibility for 20 members of design team staff
  • Ensuring the development of the design function in its entirety, upholding standards and ensuring collaboration across departments
  • Overseeing the development of design team members, empowering them to deliver to the highest standards and quality

Requirements

This role of Head of Design is great for you if:

  • You have experience at a Senior Level in Design Management roles, gained within Tier 1 Construction or Main Contracting environment
  • You possess detailed knowledge of design process departmental procedures and industry best practice
  • You have strong technical acumen with a background in Design, construction management or engineering discipline
  • You have knowledge of building control and planning process
  • You have the ability to lead a team and be part of a team
