Join Our Values-Driven Team

EMJ is a values-driven company, first and foremost. We’re looking for an ambitious and inspiring leader who takes ownership of their professional growth while helping others reach their full potential. If you are driven, collaborative, and passionate about building high-performing teams that deliver meaningful work, we’d love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Head of Design to lead the creation of clear, engaging digital medical content while ensuring scientific accuracy, creative excellence, and brand consistency across all outputs.

Reporting directly to the Creative Director, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the design team, managing and supporting the Design Manager while creating efficient workflows that enable high-quality content delivery. This is a leadership role with a strong creative focus, balancing approximately 40% hands-on design and 60% team management, strategy, and process improvement.

You will play a central role in driving collaboration across Marketing, Editorial, Client Services, and Sales, ensuring projects move smoothly through the publishing process and are delivered to the highest standard. Just as importantly, you will inspire, coach, and develop the design team, helping the department become the best version of itself.

If you’re a strategic thinker, a strong people manager, and a talented designer who thrives in a fast-paced office environment, we’d love to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
