Head of Design - Super Prime Residential
Salary: Up to £95,000 + Package
Location: London
Sector: Super Prime / High-End Residential
We’re working with an established Super Prime Residential contractor looking to appoint an experienced Head of Design to lead and take ownership of their design function.
This is a senior position within the business, responsible for managing an established Design Management team and ensuring the successful coordination and delivery of design across a portfolio of complex, high-specification residential projects.
The Role
As Head of Design, you’ll take overall responsibility for the design function, managing a team of 4+ Design Managers and working closely with the wider pre-construction, commercial and operational teams.
You’ll provide leadership and direction to the team while remaining commercially and operationally aware of what is required to successfully deliver projects on the contracts side.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 4+ Design Managers
- Take overall ownership of the design function
- Oversee design delivery across multiple live projects
- Manage and coordinate consultants, architects and specialist subcontractors
- Ensure design information is produced accurately and in line with programme requirements
- Identify and resolve design risks before they impact construction
- Work closely with Commercial, Pre-Construction and Operations teams
- Drive design programmes from pre-construction through to delivery
- Maintain the exceptionally high standards required within Super Prime Residential
- Develop and mentor the wider Design Management team
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience at Head of Design, Design Lead or Senior Design Manager level
- Experience managing a Design Management team of at least 4 people
- Strong main contractor / contracts-side experience
- Experience delivering complex, high-quality construction projects
- Super Prime / High-End Residential experience highly advantageous
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Commercially aware with a strong understanding of buildability
- Someone who can take ownership of the department rather than simply manage individual projects
- Proactive, organised and comfortable operating at a senior level within the business
