🎯 Focus: Internal Developer Platform

AI-Native Engineering Transformation Engineering Quality & Reliability

About Tech At Bloom & Wild Group 🌸

We're Europe's largest direct-to-consumer flower and gifting business: home to Bloom & Wild, bloomon and Bergamotte. Our 65+ person Tech team builds the software that powers our e-commerce, production and fulfilment: five cross-functional Product Engineering squads, backed by Developer Experience, Domain Engineering, Data and IT.

The Role

As Head of Developer Experience, you'll lead the team that owns our “paved road” and internal developer platform. This role is one of the most leveraged roles in our tech org, because everything you do multiplies across every squad. You'll split your time roughly between:

  • Platform Strategy: owning the DevEx roadmap and our internal developer platform as a product.
  • AI-Native Transformation: leading on our DevEx AI roadmap and driving AI enablement across Product & Technology.
  • Team Leadership: line-managing and growing the DevEx engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Paved Road & Platform: Own our internal developer platform as a product, making it easy for every engineer to do the right thing at speed, safely and to a high bar of quality.
  • AI-Native Transformation: Lead how we adopt agentic tooling across the org, bridging senior leadership's AI ambitions with technical reality so our roadmap stays ambitious but grounded in data.
  • Quality & Incidents: Raise the bar on CI/CD, test tooling and operational health (SLOs, DORA metrics), and own production incidents that cross domain boundaries.
  • Team Leadership: Line-manage and develop engineers across Platform and Quality Engineering, coaching other managers and shaping how DevEx recruits.
  • Partnerships & Cost: Partner with our Lead DevSecOps Engineer and manage infrastructure costs and supplier relationships across AWS, GCP and our tooling vendors.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • CI/CD & Observability: Hands-on with GitHub Actions, Terraform Cloud and Cloudflare, and comfortable using observability tools to pinpoint performance and reliability issues.
  • AI Fluency: specifically with agentic coding tools (like Claude Code or Cursor), and able to translate that into a roadmap grounded in data for senior stakeholders.
  • People Growth: A track record of developing engineers at all levels and coaching other managers.
  • Cross-Squad Ownership: Comfortable taking on work that spans multiple domains, whether that's working with senior leadership or pairing with an engineer on a complex platform problem.
