About BCMG Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG) is a leading contemporary music ensemble and registered charity. We commission and perform new music, deliver learning and community programmes, and tour nationally and internationally. BCMG is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation and operates from the CBSO Centre in central Birmingham.

The role includes leading the organisation’s fundraising, which focuses on public funding, charitable trusts, and major and individual donors. The postholder will work closely with the Executive Director on communications, marketing and CRM priorities. This is a hands-on role requiring an experienced development professional who can work independently within a small arts charity and translate artistic visions into compelling applications and communications. The Head of Development is a member of the Senior Management Team.

  • Report to funders and maintain accurate records of amounts raised, ensuring funding is received and allocated to the relevant projects or activities.
  • Contribute to quarterly reporting to the Board.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
