Head of Digital - Marketing, Retail, Wholesale
The location of the role is London (onsite). The salary on offer is £70k per annum. The position is permanent.
This role is working for a leading UK wholesale and retail organisation.
Role Summary:
We are currently looking to appoint a Head of Digital to lead the digital strategy, ecommerce performance and customer experience across a large multi-brand wholesale and retail business. This is a commercially focused leadership role with ownership of a significant digital sales channel, responsible for driving ecommerce growth, enhancing digital customer journeys and delivering an ambitious digital roadmap across multiple websites and mobile applications.
The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with Marketing, IT, Trading, Commercial and Operations to optimise digital performance, develop new digital capabilities and identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation and emerging technologies to improve customer engagement and commercial outcomes.

Key accountabilities of the role
- Develop and own the digital strategy and roadmap across multiple customer-facing websites, mobile applications and digital platforms.
- Drive ecommerce growth through improvements in customer acquisition, retention, conversion, basket value and overall digital performance.
- Lead the optimisation of end-to-end customer journeys, improving user experience across search, navigation, merchandising, checkout and self-service functionality.
- Identify and deliver opportunities to improve customer experience through AI, automation, personalisation and emerging digital technologies.
- Work closely with IT and development teams to prioritise and deliver digital products, platform enhancements and future capability.
- Develop a culture of continuous optimisation using customer insight, analytics and testing to improve digital performance.
- Lead digital marketing activity across multiple brands, ensuring alignment with wider commercial objectives.
- Support the development of supplier-funded digital revenue opportunities, including sponsored content, digital campaigns and Retail Media integration.
- Monitor digital performance and customer behaviour, using insight to inform commercial decisions and future strategy.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Marketing, Trading, IT, Commercial, Finance and Operations.
- Lead, coach and develop the Digital team, driving accountability, capability and continuous improvement.
- Develop business cases for future digital investment, demonstrating value through measurable commercial outcomes.

- Proven experience in a senior Digital, Ecommerce or Digital Marketing leadership role.
- Strong commercial mindset with experience delivering digital sales growth and ecommerce optimisation.
- Experience developing and implementing digital strategies and transformation roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of customer journey optimisation, UX, conversion rate optimisation (CRO), digital merchandising and personalisation.
- Experience managing large-scale transactional websites and/or mobile applications.
- Experience working closely with IT and development teams to deliver digital products and platform enhancements.
- Knowledge of AI, automation and emerging digital technologies, with the ability to identify practical commercial applications.
- Experience using customer data and digital insight to drive commercial performance and strategic decision-making.
- Experience managing agencies, technology partners and external suppliers.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders across multiple business functions.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing digital teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation and project leadership skills.
- Experience within Retail, Wholesale, FMCG or another customer-focused, high-volume environment would be advantageous.
