Head of Digital Transformation (Inside IR35)
On behalf of Companies House we are looking for a Head of Digital Transformation (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with travel to Cardiff as and when required.
PLEASE NOTE: An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)

Role Overview
The Head of Digital Transformation is responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation's digital vision, ensuring technology, data and artificial intelligence (AI) are used to improve public services, increase organisational effectiveness and support strategic outcomes.
The role provides strategic leadership for digital transformation, developing and implementing a forward-thinking coherent digital modernisation strategy that aligns with government priorities, drives innovation and embeds user-centred, data-driven approaches across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Digital and Technology, you will work collaboratively with senior leaders, service and delivery teams, and external partners, to champion modern digital practices and lead the responsible adoption of emerging technologies to improve services while maintaining the highest standards of governance, security and ethics.
As a Head of Digital Transformation your main responsibilities will be to:
- Lead the development and maintenance of the organisation's Digital and AI Strategy, ensuring alignment with Companies House strategy and cross-government digital priorities.
- Lead strategic planning for digital transformation and modernisation across services, operations and corporate functions.
- Establish governance, assurance and ethical frameworks for digital transformation and AI adoption, ensuring compliance with legislation, government policy and recognised best practice.
- Act as Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for Companies House digital modernisation programme, driving the adoption of modern technologies, services and platforms.
- Lead stakeholder engagement with senior leaders, stakeholders, and external partners to drive engagement, buy-in, and adoption.
- Work with data, analytics, digital and technology teams to improve organisational capability.
Essential Criteria
- Significant experience developing and delivering digital strategy within an organisation, ideally the Public Sector.
- Proven leadership of digital transformation programmes delivering measurable organisational change.
- Experience influencing senior executives and managing complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience developing AI, automation or emerging technology strategies.
- A collaborative, inclusive leadership style that brings people together.
- Strategic thinking and vision.
- Exceptional leadership and influencing skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear business decisions.
- Systems thinking and problem solving.
