Head of DOM — Principal Engineer & Builder

LEC AI · London · Full-time · Office-based

Location and commitment: This role is based in our London office five days a week. During major launches, additional effort — including occasional weekends — is expected. We state this upfront so expectations are clear from the first conversation.

Read this first

This is not a director role. It is not a management role with a technical title. We are hiring a builder — someone who has personally built systems like ours before, writes production code every week, and leads a small team by being the strongest engineer in the room. If your last two years were spent in meetings, roadmaps and appraisals rather than in the codebase, this role is not for you — and you would not enjoy it.

About LEC AI

LEC AI is the artificial intelligence business within London Export Corporation, a London-headquartered group building technology and operating companies across robotics, consumer brands and AI, with seven decades of operating history between the UK and China. We are a technology business with live commercial deployments and real users, not a research lab.

The role

You will own and run DOM — our AI marketing operating system — end to end. DOM is in production: it finds, cuts, captions and publishes short-form video at volume across platforms and brands. Around it sit connected systems in active build: an editing intelligence trained on documented human editing judgement, a multi-account content distribution and monetisation operation, and an affiliate revenue programme. A larger autonomous agent platform will ship into DOM as its delivery surface.

You inherit a working codebase, a small team of engineers and interns, live revenue workstreams, and a specified roadmap. You will lead it by building the hardest parts yourself.

What you will own and build

  • The DOM platform: an API-first module architecture where every capability is reachable by humans through the interface and by agents through endpoints
  • The video pipeline: transcription, moment selection, cutting, reframing, captioning and rendering at hundreds of clips per day
  • The editing intelligence programme: a vision model that learns what is in our footage, multi-agent judgement panels, and a training-data pipeline built on documented human editing decisions
  • The distribution and monetisation operation: multi-account publishing across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Meta, commerce and affiliate integration, revenue tracked per clip and per channel
  • The team: a handful of engineers and interns who ship weekly — you set the bar by example

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What we are looking for — all of these, evidenced

  • You have built this kind of thing before. A content, creator-economy, marketing-tech or media-automation product that shipped to real users — as founding engineer, CTO or the clear technical lead. We will ask you to walk us through it, in detail, live.
  • You ship production code daily at a senior level — full-stack across Python and TypeScript — and can personally build any module in our stack. The best engineer on teams you have also led.
  • API-first platform architecture, shipped: systems where every capability is an endpoint, writes are idempotent, and every action is traceable end to end — built that way from the start, not retrofitted.
  • Production LLM and agent systems experience: you have built agentic pipelines, structured tool use, evaluation loops, or multi-model judgement systems that ran in production — not notebooks. Experience serving open models on your own hardware, and fluency with the current open-model ecosystem including the leading Chinese model families, is a strong advantage.
  • Video and media pipeline fluency: hands-on with speech recognition, FFmpeg-class processing, and rendering at volume — enough to architect it, build in it, and review a specialist's work.
  • You have fought publishing platforms for real: multi-account posting against TikTok, Meta, YouTube or similar production APIs — schedulers, post-time workers, OAuth token management, rate limits and review processes. You know exactly why "just schedule it" is never just scheduling it.
  • Revenue instrumentation: you have built the plumbing that traces content to money — tracked links, attribution, cost and revenue recorded per item — and you sequence engineering against what earns first, with your own money or your employer's on the line.
  • Small-team velocity: you have led teams of three to eight engineers while remaining the most productive builder on them. People who have worked with you would say the team moved faster because you built alongside them.

Our stack

Python and TypeScript · Postgres · Redis · vector and graph memory · self-hosted GPU estate · Whisper-class speech pipeline · FFmpeg-based rendering · model-agnostic serving across hosted and local models — all on infrastructure we own.

Who this is for

We are looking for hungry people. Builders who want to own something whole and make it work, who move fast because they can't help it, and who take pride in what they ship. If you are looking for a comfortable seat, a big-company routine, or a leadership role that keeps you out of the codebase, this is not it. If you want to run and build an AI content machine end to end — platform, intelligence, distribution and revenue — with real users from day one and a direct line to the Group CEO, it is.

How to apply

Email talent@lecai.ai with your CV, links to work you have built, and anything further you want to tell us — the more evidence of what you have personally shipped, the better.
