Head of eCommerce Technology Delivery – Contract
£500–£650 per day | Inside IR35 | Hybrid
D2C eCommerce | SAP Commerce / Hybris | European Delivery
We are looking for an experienced Head of eCommerce Technology Delivery to lead a major European D2C development and operations function for a global organisation.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for 50+ engineers, developers and delivery resources across multiple European markets, overseeing the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of a large-scale eCommerce ecosystem.
You'll combine technology delivery leadership, eCommerce expertise, programme governance, operational excellence and senior stakeholder management.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead multiple development and Scrum teams comprising 50+ technology and delivery resources.
- Own end-to-end development and operational delivery of a major D2C eCommerce platform across Europe.
- Oversee multiple projects, enhancements and strategic programmes across different markets.
- Own delivery governance, SLAs, KPIs, backlogs, risks, dependencies and operational performance.
- Lead resource forecasting, workforce planning, budgeting and capacity management.
- Manage technology vendors, suppliers and external delivery partners.
- Act as a senior escalation point for delivery and operational issues.
- Work closely with engineering and architecture teams, reviewing and challenging technical solutions.
- Analyse operational performance including ticket volumes, SLA performance, backlog trends and delivery metrics.
- Turn complex operational data into actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement through AI, automation and process optimisation.
- Produce executive-level reporting and quarterly technology roadmaps for European markets.
- Build strong relationships across technology, business, operational and market stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

- 10+ years' experience across technology programme, project or delivery management.
- 5+ years' eCommerce platform experience, ideally SAP Commerce / Hybris.
- Experience leading large technology delivery functions and multiple development/Scrum teams.
- Experience managing large engineering and delivery teams – ideally 50+ resources.
- Strong background in D2C/eCommerce technology delivery within complex enterprise environments.
- Experience working across multiple countries or markets.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery, PMO governance, JIRA, ticket lifecycles, SLAs and operational management.
- Experience with budgeting, resource planning, vendors and third-party suppliers.
- Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills.
- Good understanding of how AI, automation and LLM-driven analytics can improve technology and operational delivery.
- Excellent executive communication, reporting and stakeholder-management skills.
- Advanced JIRA, Confluence, Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.
