Interim Head of Economic Development

Based in London, hybrid working
Inside IR35
Length: 3 months initially

You will develop and deliver strategies that create thriving town centres, attract investment, support local businesses, and deliver high-quality placemaking for our communities.
You will oversee a portfolio of projects and programmes, managing delegated revenue budgets of up to £150,000 and capital investment programmes of up to £3 million per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Regeneration and Economic Strategy
  • Develop masterplans, regeneration frameworks, business cases, and feasibility studies that support investment and growth
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with businesses, Business Improvement Districts, Community Improvement Districts, the Greater London Authority, West London Alliance, London Councils, and other key stakeholders
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and partners to deliver complex regeneration projects on time and within budget
  • Provide expert strategic advice to senior leaders and elected Members on economic development, regeneration, and market trends

  • A degree or equivalent professional experience in Economics, Planning, Regeneration, Urban Planning, or a related discipline, with a relevant professional qualification desirable
  • Significant senior management experience within economic development, regeneration, or place-based growth
  • Experience of developing regeneration strategies, masterplans, spatial frameworks, and investment business cases
  • A proven ability to secure external funding and attract public and private sector investment
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience of procurement, contract management, and delivering value for money
