Head of Economics & Business Studies - Secondary School - Wandsworth
Full Time | Long-Term / Permanent Opportunity
Paid to Scale + TLR | Immediate Interviews
Long Term Futures are recruiting an experienced and ambitious Head of Economics & Business Studies to lead the department within a mainstream secondary school in Wandsworth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established Economics Teacher or Business Studies Teacher ready to take on departmental leadership, or an existing Head of Department looking for their next long-term position.
The successful candidate will lead the delivery and development of Economics and Business Studies, driving strong teaching, curriculum development and student outcomes across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Economics and Business Studies department
- Deliver high-quality Economics and Business Studies lessons
- Teach examination classes at GCSE and/or A-Level
- Develop and oversee schemes of work and departmental curriculum planning
- Monitor student attainment, progress and intervention
- Lead, support and develop teaching staff within the department
- Maintain high expectations for teaching, behaviour and academic achievement
- Analyse assessment data and implement strategies to improve outcomes
- Contribute to whole-school improvement and wider leadership initiatives

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong experience teaching Economics and/or Business Studies
- Experience teaching examination classes
- Excellent knowledge of the relevant secondary curriculum and assessment requirements
- Strong classroom and behaviour management
- Ability to lead curriculum development and raise standards
- Previous leadership, subject responsibility or departmental experience is highly desirable
- Ambitious teachers ready to progress into a Head of Department position are also encouraged to apply
