Department Overview
The EMEA Flow Products Middle Office team is part of EMEA GMO, within Nomura’s Global Operations team. EMEA GMO encompasses middle office teams responsible for controlling and supporting key Nomura products across flow and structured assets in all asset classes.
Global Operations collaborates in shared teams across Asia, EMEA, India, Japan, and the US, covering Client Services, Collateral Management, Middle Office, Shared Services, Regulatory Reporting, and Wealth Management.
Role Description
The Head of EMEA Flow Products Middle Office will report directly to the Head of EMEA GMO, overseeing:
- Flow Credit
- Flow Rates
- Portfolio Optimisation
- Equity
- FX & EM
- Treasury
- DCM & Cash
- Ensuring day-to-day operations for London-based teams and providing oversight for Mumbai-based trade support teams.
- Supporting governance and control for all cross-border EMEA activities, managed by regional GMO teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering operational efficiency and process improvements.
- Managing complex operational issues and escalating them effectively while ensuring adherence to controls and compliance.
- Leading and developing teams, fostering high performance, and meeting employee potential.
- Maintaining relationships across Front Office, Operations, Finance, Risk, and Legal functions.
- Contributing strategically to GMO management and cross-regional initiatives.

Leadership & Management
- Ability to align middle office functions with business strategy and ensure strategic vision.
- Decision-making under pressure with sound judgment.
- Track record of building high-performing teams, developing talent, and fostering collaboration.
- Effective stakeholder management to build strong cross-functional relationships.
- Proven ability to lead organisational change and transformation.
Technical Skills
- Deep product knowledge in fixed income and currency (government bonds, FX, derivatives, OTC instruments).
- Thorough understanding of financial market infrastructure and trade lifecycle (execution to settlement).
- Strong risk management expertise, control design, and compliance expertise.
- Understanding of digital tools for enhancing controls and improving straight-through processing.
Business Acumen
- Commercial awareness including business economics, risk, and P&L drivers.
- Regulatory knowledge (global landscape and compliance requirements).
- Up-to-date awareness of market trends and technological innovations.
- Experience with budget control and resource allocation.

Experience
- 5+ years of management roles across multiple teams in financial services.
- Experience covering multiple asset classes, derivatives, and cash products.
- Proven track record in operational excellence and team leadership.
Preferred:
- Managing multinational teams.
- Experience in change programs tied to regulation, market conditions, or firm-wide initiatives.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM).

- Exceptional written and verbal communication at all levels.
