Head of EMEA
The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) is seeking a Head of EMEA to lead its presence and growth in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the larger EMEA region. This highly visible, entrepreneurial role will serve as the face of IPA in the region, building relationships, representing the organization, identifying where IPA can add value, and translating market insights into membership growth and broader opportunities. The ideal candidate brings energy, credibility, commercial judgment, and initiative, with the ability to engage senior executives and public officials and help shape IPA’s EMEA strategy.
IPA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and operates as a fully remote organization. The successful candidate must be based in the U.K. and will travel periodically across Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.
What You Will Do
- Represent IPA in the Market: Serve as IPA’s face in the U.K., Europe, and the larger EMEA region, building its profile and relationships across the private markets and alternative investments industry.
- Build Membership: Develop relationships with prospective members and deepen engagement with existing IPA members in the region, helping expand IPA’s membership and reach.
- Understand the Market: Serve as IPA’s eyes and ears in the EMEA region, developing a deep understanding of the market, its participants, priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
- Shape Regional Growth: Provide leadership on what IPA should do to grow successfully in the U.K., Europe, and the larger EMEA region, including potential programming, partnerships, events, policy engagement, and other initiatives.
- Be an External Voice for IPA: Represent IPA at industry events, participate in speaking opportunities, and represent the organization before relevant government officials, regulators, and other external stakeholders.
- Support Broader International Growth: As IPA’s international presence develops, help identify opportunities to extend its reach into other non-U.S. markets where appropriate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
