I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who you'll be working for:
- You'll report directly into someone Iopa Solutions know well and rate highly - a genuinely great person to work for, who's been with the company a long time and knows exactly what good looks like, because they've done it themselves. Salt of the earth, no ego, backs their team fully.
Working week is Hybrid:
- Hybrid, London-based - and again, we mean it properly.
- Time in the office matters just as much as time working from home; it's not a tick-box policy, it's how the team actually stays connected and sharp. For you, that means real face time with your team - coaching deals in real time, reading the room, picking up on what's going well and what's not, rather than trying to manage a pipeline through a screen. In the room when it matters.
