Head of Employee Relations

Client Details

I'm currently partnering with a large and well-established Not for Profit organisation to recruit a Head of Employee Relations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ER leader to shape and drive the employee relations agenda within a complex, values-led organisation.

The role is based in Wolverhampton, 2 days a week onsite.

Description

As Head of Employee Relations, you will lead the ER function, providing strategic and operational expertise across a broad range of employee relations matters. You'll work closely with senior leaders, HR colleagues and trade union representatives to foster positive working relationships, manage organisational risk and ensure a consistent, fair and commercially focused approach to ER across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on complex and high-profile disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance management and absence cases.
  • Developing and delivering the organisation's Employee Relations strategy, policies and frameworks.
  • Providing expert employment law advice and guidance to senior stakeholders.
  • Supporting organisational change programmes, restructures and consultation processes.
  • Building trusted relationships with leaders and coaching managers to effectively manage people issues.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with recognised trade unions and employee representatives.
  • Using ER data and insights to identify trends, mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
