Head of Employment – Birmingham
Birmingham | National Law Firm | Leadership Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Employment to join the Birmingham office of a highly regarded national law firm.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Employment lawyer who is looking to take a genuine leadership role within an established national practice and play a key part in its continued growth and development.
The Role
As Head of Employment, you will take responsibility for the continued development of the Birmingham Employment team, providing strategic direction, technical leadership and commercial support.
You will work closely with the firm's senior leadership team and colleagues across the national Employment practice, helping to develop the firm's client offering and identify opportunities for further growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the Birmingham Employment team
- Managing a high-quality and varied caseload of employment matters
- Advising senior management and HR teams on complex employment issues
- Handling contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
- Supporting the growth and development of junior lawyers
- Working collaboratively with the wider national Employment team
- Contributing to the firm's strategic and commercial objectives
- Building the Birmingham Employment practice and enhancing its market profile

About You
We are looking for an experienced Employment Partner or senior Employment lawyer who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience across a broad range of employment law matters
- Strong technical expertise and commercial awareness
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- An excellent track record of developing client relationships
- A strong appetite for business development
- The ability to identify and convert new opportunities
- A collaborative and engaging leadership style
- The ambition to play a key role in growing a successful Employment practice

A portable following would be highly advantageous, although the key requirement is the ability to demonstrate a strong commercial and business development track record.
