Shape the future of Employment at RedKite;
RedKite Solicitors is seeking an accomplished senior Employment lawyer to lead the strategic development of its Employment practice. As Head of Employment, you will bring the commercial judgement, market credibility and leadership capability required to strengthen the firm’s position as a trusted adviser and shape the future of its Employment offering.
Working alongside the incoming Partner, who will provide day-to-day operational leadership, you will take responsibility for strategic growth, market development and senior client relationships. Alongside a high-quality client-facing caseload, you will lead the continued evolution of commercially focused Employment and people solutions for SME businesses, HR professionals and leadership teams.
Redkite Solicitors has provided trusted legal advice to individuals, families and businesses since 1898. Today, we are a progressive, full-service law firm with nearly 300 professionals and an established reputation for quality, growth and innovation. Our recognition as an employer of choice, together with the standing of our lawyers in Legal 500 and Chambers, reflects the strength of our people and our commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
This is a rare opportunity to influence the long-term direction of a well-established practice. You will work with the Departmental Partner and colleagues across Commercial Services to identify market opportunities, deepen relationships with key clients and build innovative, scalable service models – including technology-enabled and AI-supported delivery – without compromising quality, oversight or client experience.
Candidates should be aware that their first day of employment may be based at an alternative Redkite office within our Pembrokeshire to Gloucestershire network, for group onboarding. A willingness to travel and spend the day away from your usual place of work is therefore required.
What Will You Be Doing?
As Head of Employment, you will:
- Help shape and deliver the Employment team’s strategic business plan, identifying opportunities for growth, diversification and service development.
- Act as an ambassador for the practice, strengthening Redkite’s profile with SME businesses, HR professionals, leadership teams and professional referrers.
- Drive new business generation, deepen key client relationships and develop retained services, training, leadership development and strategic people advisory work.
- Champion a one-firm approach by creating cross-referral opportunities and integrated client solutions across practice areas.
- Lead the development of future-facing Employment and HR services, including AI-supported and technology-enabled delivery models.
- Maintain a substantial employer-focused caseload and provide commercially grounded advice to business owners, boards, senior executives and HR leaders.
- Promote technical excellence through supervision, quality assurance, mentoring, knowledge-sharing and legal training.
- Build team capability and support succession and long-term talent planning in partnership with the Departmental Partner.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
