Head of Energy Liability

City of London

We are currently exclusively partnered with a well-backed start-up brokerage looking to appoint a Head of Energy Liability to launch and build its North American Energy Liability proposition.

The business combines the entrepreneurial environment and opportunity of a start-up with strong financial backing and genuine stability. Importantly, there is already an established and performing wider Energy portfolio within the business, providing a strong platform to launch and develop the North American Energy Liability offering alongside it.

This is a genuine build opportunity for an entrepreneurial producer who wants the autonomy to shape their own proposition, develop a team over time, and establish a meaningful portfolio.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Ideal Individual

An established Energy Liability Broker/Producer with strong North American market experience and relationships, alongside a track record of developing and retaining business.

The role would particularly suit someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who wants greater ownership and influence than may be available within a larger broking house, with the opportunity to build something of their own within a well-backed platform.

Package & Equity

The financial package is deliberately open in order to secure the right individual. Alongside a highly competitive package, there will be an equity opportunity with a clear performance-based structure, which the client will be able to walk through transparently as part of the process.

This is a rare opportunity to build and own a North American Energy Liability proposition from the ground up, while benefiting from the backing, stability, and established wider Energy portfolio already in place.
