Opportunity to Build and Lead One of the UK's Next-Generation Energy Businesses

As Envevo continues its growth journey, we are investing in the technologies that will accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future. We are seeking an ambitious and commercially driven leader to grow our Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and Solar business, creating a market-leading capability that helps customers unlock the full potential of renewable energy infrastructure.

About the Role

The Head of Energy Systems role will combine strategic leadership, business development, technical expertise, commercial management, and operational oversight to create a profitable and scalable business unit.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have significant influence in shaping the strategy, direction, and success of this business unit. You will combine commercial leadership, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial thinking to create a high-performing team, secure major customer opportunities, and deliver sustainable growth.

The successful candidate will develop and execute the Company's battery storage and solar strategy, driving revenue growth, increasing market share, and delivering sustainable profitability. The role will be responsible for identifying market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, securing major contracts, influencing tender submissions, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects across the UK and Ireland.

This is not a role for someone looking to maintain the status quo. It is an opportunity to build something substantial; creating a business that sits at the centre of the UK's energy transition and leaves a lasting impact on the industry's journey to net zero.

This position requires a commercially minded leader with a strong engineering or renewable energy background, capable of operating at both strategic and operational levels while building a high-performing team and establishing the Company as a recognised market leader within the renewable energy sector.

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable track record of developing and scaling renewable energy businesses.
  • Proven experience in the solar, battery storage, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, or utilities sector.
  • Established network across developers, investors, utilities, technology providers, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience leading business growth, business development, or commercial operations.
  • Strong understanding of the UK renewable energy market, regulatory landscape, and energy transition agenda, as well as technologies.
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue, margin, and profitability targets.
  • Experience leading major tenders, framework submissions, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with developers, utilities, consultants, contractors, and investors.
  • Experience developing and managing high performing teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
