Head of Engineering
£70,000 - £80,000 + Excellent Benefits
GMA Technical are working exclusively with a privately owned British manufacturing business with an outstanding reputation for engineering excellence and significant investment driving ambitious growth plans.
As part of this exciting journey, we are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead the engineering function and play a key role in shaping future products, engineering capability and business performance.
This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for Product Management, Mechanical Design, New Product Introduction (NPI), Technical Support, Project Delivery and Customer Engineering. Working closely with manufacturing, operations, commercial teams, suppliers and customers, you'll ensure engineering supports both business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and inspire a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Drive product design, development and New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Deliver customer-focused engineering projects from concept through to completion.
- Improve product performance, manufacturability and cost efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership on engineering materials and product performance.
- Manage engineering governance, project planning and resource allocation.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Contribute to business strategy, investment decisions and future product roadmaps.
About You
You'll be a degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer (or similar) with proven experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing environment.

You will also bring:
- Strong product design and development experience.
- A successful track record delivering NPI and engineering projects.
- Commercial awareness with a customer-focused approach.
- Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to think strategically whilst remaining hands-on when required.
Experience within process industries (such as chemical, oil & gas, energy, water or pharmaceuticals), Chartered Engineer status and Continuous Improvement experience would be advantageous.
