Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting Alco Valves to recruit a Head of Engineering to join their manufacturing site in West Yorkshire.

Over the last 3 years, the business has successfully reinvented itself and is now operating as a leaner, more agile organisation focused on growth and operational excellence.
The business has achieved consistent year-on-year growth and has established itself as a profitable, globally recognised manufacturer supplying into the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors, while actively expanding into hydrogen, OEM and skid manufacturing markets.
About the Role
As the business continues to grow, the Head of Engineering will play a key leadership role, reporting directly to the Managing Director and taking overall responsibility for the engineering function, delivering strategic objectives and driving operational performance across the organisation.
Duties of the Head of Engineering
- Leading and developing an engineering team
- Lead as the company’s technical authority for valve design, engineering governance, and regulatory compliance, setting technical standards, driving best practice, and ensuring successful quality and compliance audits.
- Take ownership of design integrity, engineering calculations, and compliance with relevant codes and standards, particularly ASME and PED.
- Oversee the design and development of products, ensuring projects are delivered cost-effectively, on time, and in line with customer requirements
- Drive the engineering R&D programme, identifying future market opportunities and implementing cost-reduction initiatives
- Serve as the company's technical representative with customers, industry bodies, standards committees, and trade associations
- Provide expert guidance on design, engineering standards, and technical specifications across the business.
- Maintain and develop a comprehensive database of customer and industry specifications, particularly within highly regulated environments

We are looking for Head of Engineer with the following:
- Degree qualified within a relevant Engineering field
- Proven track record in senior engineering leadership roles, with in-depth expertise in industry standards and compliance frameworks, including ASME, API, and PED.
- Extensive experience in valve engineering, with strong technical expertise across ball valves, instrumentation valves, and piping valve applications.
- Highly proficient in performing design calculations and delivering compliant engineering solutions in accordance with ASME codes and standards.
- Experience leading product development, R&D programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to support customers and sales teams on technical matters.
- Skilled in driving cross-functional collaboration and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop teams and deliver measurable operational improvements
