Head of Engineering

Location: UK (Hybrid)

Salary: £100,000–£130,000 + Performance Bonus + Benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Engineering to lead our multidisciplinary engineering function. Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will oversee the development and delivery of innovative technology products, leading teams across Electronics, Embedded Software, and Software Engineering.

This is a strategic leadership role combining technical oversight, people management, and delivery excellence to ensure products are developed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams across Electronics, Embedded Software, and Software Development.
  • Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business objectives and product roadmap.
  • Drive the successful delivery of complex technology projects from concept through to production.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure successful product development.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource planning, and recruitment.
  • Establish and monitor engineering KPIs, processes, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and quality requirements.

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role within a technology or product development environment.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, embedded systems, and software engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience delivering complex products through the full development lifecycle.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance innovation, quality, cost, and timescales.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related discipline.
