VP of Engineering / Head of Engineering - Manchester

Location: Manchester (Hybrid)
Salary: £100,000 - £135,000 + Bonus

About Our Client

Our client is an established SaaS organisation experiencing significant growth across the UK and European markets. As part of continued investment in its technology platform, they are looking for a senior engineering leader to take responsibility for multiple software engineering teams.

The Role

You will work closely with the CTO and Product leadership to translate business strategy into an effective engineering roadmap. The position combines people leadership, technical direction and delivery ownership, with responsibility for creating an environment where engineering teams can perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple engineering teams across software, platform and quality engineering.
  • Recruit, coach and develop Engineering Managers, Tech Leads and senior engineers.
  • Own engineering delivery, resource planning and technical capability.
  • Partner with Product leadership on roadmap planning and prioritisation.
  • Improve engineering processes, development standards and release practices.
  • Drive platform scalability, reliability and technical quality.
  • Establish meaningful engineering metrics and improve delivery predictability.
  • Support architectural decisions and the management of technical debt.
  • Promote a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience leading software engineering teams.
  • Previous experience as a Head of Engineering, Engineering Director, VP Engineering or similar.
  • Strong technical background in modern software development and cloud platforms.
  • Experience managing Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders.
  • Proven experience scaling teams and improving engineering delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience within SaaS, digital products, fintech or another technology-led environment would be advantageous.

  • Salary: £100,000 - £135,000 + Bonus
