The role

A rapidly growing Series A company, backed by leading investors, is building a platform that helps data teams define and manage metrics as code, enabling self-serve analytics for the entire business. Their mission: build one of the fastest engineering teams on the planet.

You'll join a lean engineering team of around a dozen, working directly alongside the CTO. This isn't a pure management role; you'll stay hands-on, coaching and unblocking engineers while making rapid architecture and security decisions. Velocity is the stated mandate, not a value on a wall. You'll own the developer experience, tooling, and workflows that dictate team speed, shipping quickly and learning in public. The challenge? Owning reliability and SLAs at the same time, holding trust while everything moves at that pace.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The work

  • Drive engineering velocity: coach, unblock, and make rapid architectural and security decisions for a lean team.
  • Own the developer experience, tooling, and workflows that define how fast the team can move.
  • Ship product quickly and iterate based on feedback, often in public as part of an open-source model.
  • Balance high velocity with robust reliability and SLAs, ensuring trust while moving at speed.
  • Actively seek and implement velocity gains through AI-assisted workflows and tooling.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams (HoE, EM, founder, tech lead) in fast-moving startups, with a consistent hands-on contribution.
  • A track record of taking products from 0 to 1 or through hyper-growth, making imperfect decisions quickly.
  • Strong architectural instincts and security knowledge, used to simplify, not add process.
  • Deep understanding of developer experience as a lever for speed, with experience building relevant tooling and workflows.
  • Ownership of monitoring, observability, and performance as integral to shipping fast.
  • Based in London or remote within +/- 3 hours of GMT.
