Head of Engineering | Sheffield | £70k–£80k + Package
GMA Technical is working with an established engineering business to appoint an experienced Head of Engineering to lead its engineering function and play a key role in its continued growth.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ambitious engineering professional who can combine strong technical expertise, people leadership, and commercial awareness. You will have the opportunity to influence engineering strategy, shape the direction of the department, and make a genuine impact on the wider success of the business.
Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will take responsibility for ensuring the engineering function is operating efficiently and effectively, while driving improvements across people, processes, and performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading from the front and developing high-performing teams.

The role:
- Lead, manage, and develop the engineering team and wider function
- Help shape and deliver the company's engineering strategy
- Drive operational excellence, quality, and continuous improvement
- Manage engineering projects, resources, and budgets
- Work closely with senior leadership and other key departments
- Develop and implement best-practice engineering processes and standards
- Identify opportunities for innovation, improvement, and increased efficiency
- Support the development and growth of the engineering team
We're looking for:
- Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership or management position
- Strong technical background and commercial understanding
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills
- A track record of delivering engineering improvements and successful projects
- The ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively across multiple departments
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic thinking and day-to-day leadership

This role would suit an experienced Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, or senior engineering leader who is ready to take ownership of a critical function and play a key part in the future direction of the business.
📍 Location: Sheffield – candidates must be based within a commutable distance
💷 Salary: £70,000–£80,000 base + package
