Role Description
The Head of Engineering will lead and grow engineering teams, define technical direction, and ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions for clients and internal initiatives. This full-time hybrid role is based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing engineering roadmaps, managing end-to-end project execution, and aligning technology decisions with business needs and client requirements. The role involves coaching and mentoring engineers, promoting best practices in software development, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. The Head of Engineering will also collaborate closely with recruitment consultants, product stakeholders, and client leads to scope projects, manage timelines, and support technical hiring decisions.

Qualifications

- Strong team leadership capabilities, including Team Management and Team Leadership skills, with experience building and guiding high-performing engineering teams.
- Proven Engineering Management experience, overseeing technical strategy, architecture decisions, and delivery processes.
- Solid Project Management skills, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
- Hands-on background in Software Development, with the ability to review code, set standards, and support technical problem-solving.
- Experience working in or with digital media, IT, web, or smartphone technology environments is highly beneficial.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Track record of implementing engineering best practices (e.g., CI/CD, testing, code review, documentation).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience in a Head of Engineering, Engineering Director, or similar senior technical leadership role.
