Job Title
This is a part-time role working 3 days a week.
About the Role
The role is going to be focused to enhance, implement, and embed the Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Framework, in addition to supporting the second line oversight of Strategic Risk. Responsibilities for ensuring a coherent and effective risk management approach is utilised across the Bank, including during oversight of asset acquisition or other strategic proposals. This includes overseeing remediation programs, addressing regulatory/external feedback.
Responsibilities
- Framework and Policy Oversight: Maintain, improve and embed across the organisation the Risk Management and Risk Appetite Frameworks (RMF/RAF).
- Design, implement and oversee an effective Emerging Risk process.
- Provide Bank-wide training on Enterprise Risk Management.
- Oversee to completion RMF remediation activities, including any actions from regulators and internal and external auditors.
- Complete 2nd line assurance activity as necessary to assess the embedment of the RMF and RAF.
- Support in the CRO in second line oversight of Strategic Risk, including business strategy, change risk, geopolitical risk and ESG.
- Support the CRO in risk assessment and advisory for Bank-wide strategic projects, such as asset acquisitions.
- Oversee, and assure the quality of, the end-to-end risk management cycle (Identification, Assessment, Management and Monitoring activities). Assist the CRO and Head of Compliance in compiling assurance plans.
- Prepare clear management information (MI) and governance reports for senior leadership, risk committees, and the Board where necessary.
- Provide broader support for the Risk & Compliance projects where needed.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in enterprise risk management within UK retail banking.
- Strong working knowledge of risk management frameworks and risk appetite setting, including strong understanding of regulatory expectation in these areas.
- Experience of providing practical, risk-based advice and guidance to business stakeholders, including in relation to new or emerging risks.
- Experience of reviewing and maintaining risk policies, procedures and control frameworks.
- Experience of conducting enterprise risk assessments, identifying control gaps and supporting actions through to resolution.
- Experience of preparing clear management information and reporting for senior management, governance committees and/or Boards.
- Experience of working effectively within a three lines of defence model.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Requirements
- Experience with risk oversight of asset acquisitions and/or structuring transactions.
- Experience within a UK regulated bank or other FCA-regulated financial services firm.
- Experience with regulatory interactions or oversight of regulatory remediation programs.
- Project management experience or qualifications.
