Head of EHS
Worcestershire
£80,000–£95,000+ DOE
I’m working confidentially with a growing manufacturing group to appoint an established Head of EHS. (I am also open to interim/ professional consultants to support the immediate need whilst this process continues)
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who solves problems, implements solutions and drives actions through to completion. The multi-site business operates across a diverse mix of manufacturing processes, so this isn’t about finding someone from one very specific technical background. The bigger focus is on risk mitigation, delivery, stakeholder communication and business partnering.
They need someone who can quickly understand where the real risks sit, decide what needs to change and then make sure those changes actually happen. That means going beyond identifying issues, producing reports or making recommendations. You’ll be expected to take ownership of actions, work with operational leaders to implement solutions, challenge where progress is too slow and follow through until the risk is properly controlled.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
A significant part of the role will also be around how the EHS team is represented across the business. You’ll need to build credibility with senior leadership, communicate clearly around complex or sensitive risks and make EHS a practical part of operational and commercial decision-making.
You’ll already be an established EHS leader within manufacturing, likely operating at Senior Manager, Head of EHS, EHS Director or a comparable senior level.
Experience across complex or varied manufacturing environments would be particularly relevant, but exact process experience is less important than your ability to:
- Identify and prioritise significant risk
- Turn findings into practical, deliverable actions
- Implement solutions and drive them through to completion
- Hold stakeholders accountable for agreed actions
- Influence senior leaders and operational teams
- Build confidence in the EHS team internally and externally
- Improve standards without becoming purely compliance-led
