Interim Head of Estates & Facilities
Location: Calderdale / West Yorkshire
Rate: Up to £600 per day PAYE
Contract: 3 Months Initially
Venn Group is working with a large NHS organisation in West Yorkshire to recruit an experienced Interim Head of Estates & Facilities on an initial 3-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior estates professional with a strong NHS background to lead Estates Technical Services, Capital Development and Compliance functions across a complex healthcare estate. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring statutory compliance, service excellence and the effective delivery of capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across Estates, Engineering, Compliance and Capital Development services.
- Lead operational maintenance, asset management and planned preventative maintenance programmes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, NHS guidance, HTMs, Health & Safety requirements and CQC standards.
- Oversee the delivery of capital projects and estate improvement programmes from inception through to completion.
- Manage contractor performance and oversee external engineering and building services contracts.
- Lead on risk management, including fire safety, asbestos, legionella, decontamination and statutory compliance.
- Develop estates strategies, business cases, operational policies and performance improvement initiatives.
- Build effective relationships with senior stakeholders, clinicians, contractors and external agencies.

Candidate Requirements
- Significant senior-level NHS Estates Management experience.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex estates and facilities operations within an acute healthcare environment.
- Proven experience delivering capital development schemes and major projects.
- Strong working knowledge of P22 (ProCure22), JCT and NEC contracts/frameworks.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary estates, engineering and compliance teams.
- Degree-qualified in an engineering, building surveying or estates-related discipline.
- Professional membership of CIBSE, IHEEM, RICS or a similar body would be advantageous.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels within a fast-paced NHS setting.
