Head of Events
A London-based think tank is looking for a Head of Events to join their established and collaborative team in their office in Westminster. This is a part-time role, 3 days per week, with flexible days. The hours are 9.30-6pm.
This is a brand-new position, so it needs someone confident and experienced to make it their own. As Head of Events, your main focus will be organizing, running, and expanding their week-long fellowship program, as well as running other events throughout the year and maintaining their strong alumni network. The role would also involve the potential for presenting innovative ideas to the Senior Management Team about how to grow the program and identify emerging talent throughout the country and in a broad range of sectors.
Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Management of the main fellowship program, including:
- Oversight and coordination of the application process
- Booking and liaising with speakers
- Helping articulate program goals and expectations while supporting individual fellowship needs
- Coordination of the program, including pastoral duties
- Manage the program's budget, monitor expenditures, keep accurate financial records, and ensure cost-effectiveness in event, travel, and accommodation planning
- Develop promotional materials and outreach strategies to recruit participants and raise public awareness of the Fellowship
- Attend recruitment fairs or relevant conferences as necessary and build relationships with relevant networks, including universities
- Planning of other events throughout the year, including sourcing and booking venues, approaching and liaising with speakers, managing invites, and on-the-day coordination of events
- Expanding the program, which will include presenting innovative ideas to the Senior Management Team about how to grow the cohort and expand the organization's ability to identify emerging talent throughout the country, which could require some ad-hoc travel

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
