About the Women in STEM Network
The Women in STEM Network (WISN) is a global professional community supporting women across science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through networking, professional development, mentoring, leadership initiatives, programmes, partnerships and events, WISN aims to improve the visibility, retention and progression of women throughout STEM careers. WISN currently serves a global membership community spanning academia, industry, research, entrepreneurship and policy sectors.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Head of Events to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of our global events programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape one of the most visible parts of the Women in STEM Network, creating engaging experiences that connect, inspire and support women across STEM industries worldwide.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, volunteers, partners, sponsors and speakers to deliver high-quality virtual events that strengthen member engagement, grow the network and support WISN's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Events Strategy & Planning
- Develop and oversee the annual WISN events calendar.
- Work with the CEO to design agendas for an engaging mix of webinars, panel discussions, networking events, workshops, fireside chats and flagship events.
- Align events with organisational priorities, member needs and partnership opportunities.
- Monitor event performance and continuously improve the programme.

Event Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of events.
- Manage timelines, logistics, budgets (where applicable), registrations and event platforms.
- Coordinate speakers, moderators and volunteers.
- Ensure a professional and inclusive attendee experience.
Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, coordinate and support event volunteers.
- Delegate responsibilities across event planning and delivery teams.
- Create clear processes and documentation for event management.
- Foster a collaborative and positive volunteer culture.
Community Growth & Engagement
- Use events as a mechanism to increase member engagement and retention.
- Gather attendee feedback and insights.
- Work with the CEO to identify new topics, speakers and formats that reflect emerging STEM trends and member interests.
- Support initiatives that increase diversity, accessibility and global participation.
Person Specification
Ideal Experience
- Experience organising events, programmes or conferences.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading teams or volunteers.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within STEM, innovation, education, DEI or professional membership organisations.
- Experience managing global virtual event platforms.
- Experience securing speakers, sponsors or partners.
- Experience working in non-profit, social impact or community-led organisations.

Important Information
This is initially a voluntary position during an important scale-up phase of the organisation.
While there is intention for the role to become paid as the organisation grows, applicants should apply with the understanding that this cannot currently be guaranteed.
The role is fully remote.
