About the Role

HFG are currently working with an international insurance business who are looking for a Head of External Reporting to lead their external reporting function and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, governance, and regulatory compliance across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of the Group's statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee all external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Manage the year-end and interim reporting processes, coordinating with internal teams and external advisers.
  • Lead the relationship with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and governance expectations.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess their impact on the business.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing external reporting team.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Tax, Treasury, Risk, and other senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Drive continuous improvement across reporting processes, controls, and systems.
  • Support strategic projects, acquisitions, and wider finance transformation initiatives.

  • Knowledge of financial reporting requirements, and GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles
  • ACA/CA qualified, ideally big four trained
  • 5 minimum PQE
  • Previous experience working an London market insurer
