Job Title
This is a Field Based role.

The Head of Facilities & Maintenance is responsible for developing and delivering the facilities management, maintenance and asset strategy across our WHSmith Europe business, ensuring our stores, offices and operational locations remain safe, legally compliant, commercially effective and fit for the future.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and deliver the WHSmith Europe facilities and maintenance strategy across all stores, support centres and operational locations.
- Lead all planned and reactive maintenance programmes, ensuring assets, equipment and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards while optimising costs.
- Own facilities budgets, capital expenditure planning and contractor management, ensuring effective supplier performance and commercial value.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory obligations including health & safety, fire safety, building compliance, environmental standards, and landlord requirements.
- Lead facilities support during store openings, refits, relocations, acquisitions and closures, ensuring operational continuity and minimal disruption.
- Develop robust governance, risk management and reporting processes, providing performance insights and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Promote sustainability initiatives to improve energy efficiency, reduce operational costs and support corporate ESG commitments.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with landlords, airports, rail operators, NHS Trusts, contractors, regulatory bodies and other key stakeholders.
