Head of Faculty - English & ESOL
Are you an experienced education leader with a passion for English and ESOL and a track record of improving teaching, learning and student outcomes?
As Head of Faculty - English & ESOL at New College Swindon, you'll lead and support curriculum teams across a diverse range of provision. You'll play a key role in ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and assessment while developing a forward-thinking curriculum that responds to the needs of learners, employers and stakeholders.
This is an opportunity to combine strong curriculum leadership with a focus on staff development, quality improvement and learner success. You'll work closely with colleagues across the College to drive performance, develop provision and ensure the faculty continues to improve.
What you'll do
- Lead, inspire and support curriculum teams, setting clear expectations and supporting staff development.
- Monitor the quality and performance of teaching, learning and assessment across the faculty.
- Lead curriculum planning and development, ensuring provision meets learner and stakeholder needs.
- Use data and quality assurance processes to identify priorities and drive sustained improvement.
- Ensure programmes meet awarding body requirements and relevant quality standards.
- Support the effective day-to-day operation of the faculty, including staffing, events and curriculum activity.
- Lead on relevant curriculum reforms, sector developments and government policy changes.
- Manage resources and budgets effectively.
- Work with external partners and stakeholders to strengthen the faculty and its provision.
- Contribute to College-wide priorities and champion the College's CAREs values.

What we're looking for
- A degree in a relevant subject.
- A full Level 5 teaching qualification.
- Significant experience of teaching across English and/or ESOL.
- A Level 4 management qualification or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of post-16 education and current developments within the sector.
- Proven experience of managing and developing teams to achieve high standards of teaching and learning.
- Experience of curriculum development, quality improvement and using data to drive performance.
- Experience of managing resources and budgets effectively.
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work flexibly, manage competing priorities and respond positively to change.
- Good analytical and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- A commitment to professional development, equality, inclusion and safeguarding.
- Level 2 English and Maths.
