A Snapshot of Your Day

Join us in establishing a new management function as the leader of our Instrumentation & Control (I&C) team within the Substation Upgrades division for the UK & Ireland. In this pivotal role, you will focus on three core areas: leading and developing a team of field service professionals, managing all operational aspects of service delivery to ensure project success, and maintaining strong relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders. Your proven experience in managing technical teams in a field service environment, particularly within the energy or utilities sector, will be essential as you drive operational execution and technical leadership.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Supervise, coach, and lead a team of professional field service engineers, fostering a culture of safety and high performance while setting clear performance goals aligned with the I&C mandate.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all field service activities related to substation upgrades and I&C projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for service delivery, including response times, first-time-fix rates, and project milestones, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customer escalations and complex service-related inquiries, collaborating with project management, engineering, and sales teams for seamless execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, ensuring satisfaction and identifying future service opportunities while providing regular reports on team performance and project status to senior leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
