Head of Field Service & Workshop Operations

At Siemens, we are looking for an experienced and inspiring leader to head our Field Service and Workshop Operations teams. This is a key leadership role where you will drive operational excellence, develop high-performing teams, and ensure the safe and effective delivery of field and workshop activities across our business.

Based at our Hebburn site, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our operations, balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day operational performance. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will champion safety, quality, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction while supporting Siemens' wider business objectives.

What You'll Be Doing

As Head of Field Service & Workshop Operations, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering safe, efficient and high-quality operational services. You will ensure resources, processes and performance are aligned to business goals while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading field service and workshop operations to achieve delivery, quality and financial targets.
  • Managing operational resources, including people, plant, materials and equipment.
  • Driving technical excellence across workshop and field service activities, ensuring consistent standards and best practice.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring the wellbeing of employees working in safety-critical environments.
  • Supporting business growth through collaboration with Product Line Management, Sales and Tendering teams.
  • Overseeing quality assurance activities, including performance management, quality control and non-conformance reporting.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and efficiency.
  • Developing effective cross-functional processes and strong stakeholder relationships across the business.
  • Leading workforce planning activities to ensure optimal utilisation of resources and future capability requirements.
  • Developing and mentoring teams, creating an environment where employees can grow and succeed.

What You'll Need

To be successful in this role, you'll bring strong operational leadership experience together with a deep understanding of safety-critical electrical environments.

You'll have:

  • Experience working in and deploying teams into safety-critical environments.
  • A strong understanding of electrical safety and substation operations.
  • Knowledge and experience of medium voltage (MV) switchgear.
  • Proven leadership experience managing operational teams and delivering against performance targets.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across all levels of an organisation.
  • A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • Knowledge of the Siemens MV and LV Switchgear portfolio.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience developing multidisciplinary teams, including workshop personnel and apprentices.
  • Coaching, mentoring or team development experience.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across multiple business functions
