About Quantum Base

Quantum Base exists to make quantum science useful. Founded at Lancaster University in 2015 by Professor Robert Young, we have spent a decade solving a problem the security industry had accepted as unsolvable: smartphone authentication that is secure, yet simple enough for anyone to use.

Our core technology, Q-ID®, is an authentication fingerprint built on quantum physics that anyone can authenticate in under three seconds with the smartphone already in their pocket. Impossibly simple. Atomically secure.

Q-ID® is protected by more than 40 patents, and is already protecting around two billion products worldwide. We work with printers and brands to make smartphone authentication accessible for any product, anywhere in the world.

Quantum Base has a team of 21, is based in Lancaster and London and listed on the London Stock Exchange (LON: QUBE) in 2025. See Q-ID® in action: https://www.quantumbase.com/how-q-id-works

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Head of Finance to lead our finance function, deliver strong financial control and reporting, streamline processes with automation, and support our growth, with strong potential for career progression as the business expands. This role requires you be in our Old St, London, office for 2 days per week.

Working closely with the CEO and board, you will combine technical accounting expertise with commercial judgement. You will also improve our systems and processes, building an efficient finance function that meets listed-company requirements without unnecessary complexity.

You will also have access to a fractional AIM experienced CFO for more strategic listed board level support (where required), as well as our external accountancy firm and legal advisors.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
