Head of Finance

Venn Group is delighted to be recruiting for a Head of Finance on behalf of a leading international development charity. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance leader to join a complex, mission-driven organisation and play a pivotal role in supporting its strategic objectives and long-term financial sustainability.

Leading an integrated finance function across UK and international operations, the successful candidate will provide high-quality financial leadership, oversee financial planning and governance, and partner with senior stakeholders to deliver insight, drive continuous improvement, and support effective decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead organisational financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modelling
  • Provide strategic financial leadership across UK and international programmes
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to support effective decision-making and long-term financial sustainability
  • Ensure robust financial governance, compliance, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Oversee statutory accounting requirements and relationships with auditors and key external stakeholders
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing finance team
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, processes, reporting, and ways of working
  • Support the development and delivery of the organisation's finance strategy

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role
  • Experience supporting Boards, Audit Committees, and Executive Leadership Teams
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, risk management, governance, and compliance
  • Proven ability to lead change, improve processes, and develop high-performing team
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Previous experience within the charity, not-for-profit, NGO, or international development sector is highly desirable

  • Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in the Central London office)
  • Working hours: Full-time
  • Salary: circa £65,000 per annum
