Your new role

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of the finance function's day-to-day operations while providing strategic financial leadership across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, financial commentary, and KPI reporting.
  • Managing budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
  • Taking ownership of month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Supporting group reporting requirements, audit processes, and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Managing cash flow forecasting, treasury activities, and financial performance analysis.
  • Overseeing payroll, tax compliance, and transactional finance activities.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing finance team through coaching and mentorship.
  • Driving ERP improvements, process automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies across the business.
  • Supporting major projects, grant reporting, and stakeholder engagement across multiple departments. This is a highly visible role that combines hands-on financial management with strategic business partnering and offers an excellent platform for progression.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered, you will be a qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant with significant post-qualified experience gained within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, technology, or project-led environment.

You will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience leading month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including statutory reporting and audit management.
  • Experience operating within ERP systems, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide meaningful financial insight to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business where continuous improvement and innovation are highly valued. Previous exposure to grant funding, project accounting, R&D environments, or multi-entity reporting would be advantageous.
