Head of Finance
c. £120,000 + bonus + benefits Multi-site Business | Birmingham, West Midlands
Baker Charles is recruiting for a newly created Head of Finance position with a large, multi-site business based in Birmingham.
Reporting to the CFO, this is a broad and highly visible leadership role with responsibility across financial control, reporting, treasury, working capital, finance systems and transactional finance. The successful candidate will inherit a large team and play a central role in transforming the finance function.
The business is looking for someone who can challenge established ways of working, improve processes and controls, increase automation and create a more efficient, scalable and forward-looking finance function.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing teams across financial accounting, Finance Operations and finance systems
- Driving finance transformation, process redesign, standardisation and automation
- Building greater resilience, succession and capability across the function
- Owning month-end and year-end close, improving speed, accuracy and quality
- Strengthening balance sheet governance, reconciliations and financial controls
- Leading statutory reporting and the external audit process
- Developing a more continuous and disciplined reporting environment
- Improving the use of finance systems, data and technology
- Overseeing cash, working capital, treasury and associated controls
- Creating clearer accountability and more effective ways of working across Finance

We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller or in another senior finance leadership role. You will combine strong technical accounting and control expertise with a proven track record of improving finance processes, systems and ways of working.

The successful individual will be commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable challenging established processes. You will have the credibility to influence senior stakeholders, lead teams through change and balance strong governance with practical solutions.
