Head of Finance
Up to £75,000 per annum
Fast growth, innovative organisation
An innovative business based on the outskirts of Middlesbrough are seeking a Head of Finance to lead and support the growth of their UK operations. Partnering with the CFO, this hands-on role covers financial control, R&D finance, governance, statutory reporting, and cash flow modelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while maintaining accuracy across financial records.
- Deliver statutory accounts and manage year-end audits with external advisers.
- Oversee VAT and R&D controls to maintain compliance.
- Build integrated cash flow forecasting models across manufacturing, R&D, and group operations.
- Manage transaction accounting across purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Lead the implementation and optimisation of ERP systems and digital automation tools.
- Provide financial insights to support commercial decisions, operational reviews, and cost management.

Essential Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
- Proven background as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
- Sound, proven working knowledge of the engineering or manufacturing sectors.
- Essential experience in manufacturing finance along with proven exposure to R&D operations.
- Strong statutory reporting expertise and balance sheet control under UK GAAP.
- Advanced capability in financial modelling and cash flow forecasting.
- Track record of executing process improvements and system enhancements.
