Head of Finance, Fast-Growing AI Healthtech (Series A+)

£100,000 to £115,000 + meaningful equity

Own and build a finance function from the ground up, at exactly the moment it starts to matter. Our client is an ambitious, VC-backed AI healthtech company on a mission to give clinicians their time back. Their technology takes the administrative burden off doctors and nurses so they can focus on patients, not paperwork, already trusted by leading hospitals and health systems. Backed by top-tier investors and scaling fast across markets, they're now ready for their first serious senior finance hire.

This is that hire.

The opportunity

As the company transitions from a fractional CFO model, you'll step in as the most senior finance person in the business: trusted partner to the CEO, a genuine voice at the leadership table, and the person who gives the board confidence in the numbers.

This is a build-it, not inherit-it role. Finance today runs through a strong outsourced provider and a fractional CFO. You'll own that relationship, bring the right work in-house over time, and put in place the systems and processes a scaling, multi-country business needs, freeing you up to focus on the commercial and strategic finance that really moves the needle. In time, you'll build a small team of your own.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll own

  • Board & investor relations: investor-grade reporting, clear financial narratives, and getting the business raise-ready with clean numbers and a diligence-ready data room.
  • Commercial finance: partnering with the commercial team on pipeline and revenue forecasting, owning ARR/revenue recognition definitions as pricing evolves, and building the cost and margin models that underpin the business.
  • FP&A: the financial model, monthly forecasting and variance process, cash flow and runway management, and a budgeting process that's rigorous without slowing the business down.
  • Finance operations: managing outsourced providers, building processes and systems (revenue/billing, P2P, treasury) on trigger rather than aspiration, and keeping tax, VAT and payroll clean.
  • Risk & governance: proportionate controls, governance rhythms fit for the company's stage, and oversight of risk and insurance.

What we're looking for

  • A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent), or qualified by experience.
  • Track record as the most senior finance person in a small business, or a strong number two ready to step up, ideally startup/scale-up experience where you built the function rather than inherited it.
  • Comfortable moving between a technical accounting judgement, a board paper, and a payroll query in the same day.
  • Experience in a technical, expert-led environment: healthtech, medtech or another sector with complex, long-cycle or public-sector revenue is a strong plus.
  • Strong financial modelling, and real experience managing outsourced finance providers.
  • Exposure to fundraising, diligence and board reporting.
  • A clear, confident communicator who can make complex financial positions land with non-finance people.
