Head of Finance
Sowena Group are partnering with a growing, commercially focused business to appoint a Head of Finance. This is a broad and commercially driven role, with a strong focus on financial analysis, performance improvement and providing insight to support key business decisions.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, using financial and commercial data to understand performance, identify opportunities and challenge decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production and analysis of monthly management information, providing clear commentary on business performance
- Analyse revenue, margins, costs and profitability, identifying key trends and areas for improvement
- Develop and maintain financial models to support commercial decision-making
- Own budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning
- Provide detailed analysis of actual performance against budget, forecast and prior periods
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand commercial performance and provide financial challenge
- Analyse customer, product and channel performance to identify opportunities and risks
- Support pricing, margin and investment decisions through robust financial analysis
- Develop meaningful KPIs and reporting to improve visibility of business performance
- Provide scenario modelling and financial insight to support strategic projects and growth initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and cash generation
- Oversee the wider finance function, ensuring strong financial controls and accurate reporting
- Lead and develop the finance team, whilst remaining hands-on with commercial analysis

About You

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong commercial finance experience with a proven analytical approach
- Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills
- Comfortable analysing large volumes of data and turning this into clear commercial insight
- Strong understanding of P&L, budgeting, forecasting and business performance
- Commercially minded, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
- Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance teams
- Experience within ecommerce, retail, consumer or another fast-paced commercial environment would be advantageous
